MISSION for INSTRUCTIONAL DESIGNER

EDvance is seeking a part-time Instructional Designer to lead the development of high-quality synchronous and asynchronous remote learning experiences. The Instructional Designer will collaborate closely with both adjunct and full-time faculty to create engaging, interactive, and effective learning experiences using Instructure Canvas learning management system (LMS). This role is critical in maximizing student engagement, retention, and learning outcomes. The Instructional Designer will report to the Associate VP of Early Childhood Studies.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and provide training and support for faculty and students on how to use Canvas effectively for course development and delivery in alignment with the EDvance Way
  • Serve as the Canvas Administrator which includes but is not limited to coordinating LTI integrations, facilitating Student Information System (SIS) integrations, troubleshooting with Canvas Support, Google Workspace integrations.
  • Develop and implement trainings on integrated Canvas features and applications including but not limited to Canvas Studio, Insights eLumen, GoReact, TurnitIn, and ReadSpeaker.
  • Explore and recommend innovative educational technologies and tools that can enhance student learning specific to the EDvance curriculum and model
  • Apply instructional design theories and methodologies to create effective learning experiences.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest trends in education, instructional design, and technology to continually improve the learning experiences for students.
  • Assessing and identifying the learning needs of students in collaboration with the Associate VP of Early Childhood Studies.
  • Ensuring that learning materials are accessible to a diverse range of learners, including those with diverse disabilities and promoting inclusive online learning experiences for all students.
  • Coordinate systems related to faculty peer-review programs for online courses.
  • Recommend appropriate use of technology to meet instructional objectives.
  • Collaborate with faculty on instructional design issues, create customized web-based instructional elements, and manage online course development.
  • Developing and distributing learning materials in English and Spanish for in variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video animation and multimedia hardware/software to support teaching and learning.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, or related field
  • Minimum of four (4) years experience applying instructional design principles and best practices with experience designing synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences
  • Knowledge of instructional design as it relates to adult learning theory
  • Proficiency using Instructure Canvas learning management system (LMS).
  • A background check (may include: employment and education verification, professional licenses, credit and sex offender registries, as position requires). Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect employment eligibility as it relates to the job specific qualifications.
  • Bilingual and biliterate in Spanish

  • Experience teaching in a higher education setting
  • Proficiency using Zoom, GoReact, Turnitin, and Google Workspace
  • Excellent leadership, writing, communication, interpersonal, problem solving, planning, critical thinking, systems thinking, and collaboration skills
  • Willingness to learn, adopt, and grow your skill set using generative AI tools, preferably Google products such as Gemini.

COMPENSATION

$44.71 - 51.92 per hour to be determined based upon education and experience.

Not a benefit eligible position. Benefits eligibility requires 75% time or higher.
